Sewage pumping station Scheveningen

Project: Scheveningen sewage pumping station
Industry: Water treatment
Location: Scheveningen
Completion: 2015
Client: Municipality of The Hague
Installer: Verkerk Elektrotechniek BV

At the end of 2013, the Delfland Water Board started construction of a new sewage pumping station on the Haringkade in Scheveningen, The Hague. With this pumping station, the wastewater from households and companies in Scheveningen is pumped to the Houtrust wastewater treatment plant. The Scheveningen sewage pumping station is the final piece in an extensive program with which Delfland and the municipality of The Hague have improved the collection and transport of wastewater from the region over the past twelve years.

The improvements in recent years were necessary because a lot has been built in The Hague and more and more people and companies are located. In combination with the increase in heavy rainfall, the need arose for a more spacious sewer system and a greater capacity of sewage pumping stations and wastewater treatment plants.
Since 2000, 160 kilometers of sewer pipes have been replaced in The Hague, the Houtrust wastewater treatment plant has been modernized and Delfland has added an ultramodern wastewater treatment plant in the Harnaschpolder. 35 kilometers of pressure pipeline has been laid for this purpose.
The new sewage pumping station in Scheveningen, on the Haringkade, will replace three smaller pumping stations in the vicinity, one of which was previously present on this site. With the completion of the construction of this sewage pumping station at the end of 2014, the waste water system in the The Hague region is completely ready for the future.

In collaboration with contractor GMB and installer Verkerk Elektrotechniek, TTT used various cable entry systems from MCT Brattberg for this project.
