Samuel Beckett Bridge

Project: Mackenstreet Bridge
Industry: Infrastructure
Location: Krimpen a/d IJssel
Client: Dublin City Council
Installer: Huisman Electrical Engineering

Theunissen Technical Trading BV (TTT) supplied MCT Brattberg transit products for the Mackenstreet Bridge in Dublin. Various frames were installed by Huisman Elektrotechniek at Hollandia in Krimpen a/d IJssel, after which the colossus of 120 meters long and 50 meters wide was shipped to Ireland.

The Samuel Beckett Bridge in Dublin has a large pivot point, which allows it to pivot away over the water. This is useful when large ships have to pass. The road surface on the bridge consists of two-lane lanes with a bicycle and pedestrian path on both sides. The curved shape of the bridge has the shape of a harp, and that was a conscious choice: the harp is also the national symbol of Ireland.
