Project name: Electrification Line Zwolle Wierden
Industry: Infrastructure
Location: Zwolle – Wierden
Completion: 2017
Client: Prorail
Installer: Railcom (subsidiary Volker Rail).

At the beginning of 2015, it was announced that contractor VolkerRail would carry out the work for the electrification of the track between Zwolle and Wierden. In the autumn of 2015, VolkerRail started the first work on the electrification of the route between Zwolle and Almelo. From October 2015 to the summer of 2016, 900 masts were installed along a track of approximately 40 kilometers. The work was completed in October 2016. According to the schedule, electric trains will be used from December 2017.

Three new substations were built on this section and an existing substation was renovated. In the substations in Almelo, Heino, Mariënheem and Nijverdal, the cable transits from MCT Brattberg have been used, ensuring a safe water-tight and gas-tight seal for at least the next 25 years.
