Industry

MCT Brattberg cable and pipe transits are widely used in the various subsectors of industry, such as food, chemicals, oil & gas, shipbuilding and metal.

The penetrations are not only used to prevent fire penetration, but also, for example, to prevent liquid leakage, to prevent the spread of released gases or to withstand explosion pressure. The most commonly used window types in the industry are RGB and RGP, but box penetrations and permanent pressure penetrations such as RGPM and RGPH also occur here, for example for the passage of pipes in tanks.

Petrochemistry

In the petrochemical industry, everything revolves around the optimal processing of petroleum, from raw material to semi-finished product and from semi-finished product to end product. Among other things, distillation, cracking of heavy fractions into lighter fractions and chemical treatment not only produce kerosene, fuel oil and petrol, but also plastics, rubber, solvents and the basis for detergents and medicines.

Safety is of the utmost importance in the petrochemical industry. Due to the focus on safe working and safe work processes, the use of MCT Brattberg cable and pipe transits is also taken for granted in this sector. After all, the consequential damage of the lack of carefully mounted, safe cable and pipe penetrations can be considerable. In the petrochemical industry, both welding windows (type RGS) and construction windows (type RGB and RGP) are used, depending on the application in concrete structures, steel walls or storage tanks. Permanent pressure-tight penetrations are also regularly used in this market (RGPM and RGPH) and special nitrile filling parts are sometimes used, which are more resistant to frequent contact with oil.

Foods

The food industry is probably the most important sub-segment in the total Dutch industry. In many process industries, but especially in the food industry, there is a need for proper compartmentalization. As a result, MCT Brattberg cable and pipe transits are often also required to safely seal the passage of cables and pipes from one room to another. These seals are then mainly installed to prevent fire penetration and to limit the harmful consequences of explosions, such as dust explosions. The main systems used in the food industry are construction windows of the RGB and RGP type, both in new construction and in existing factories. In the latter case, surface-mounted windows are installed in most cases, provided with a liquid gasket between the flange of the lead-through frame to be screwed on and the wall.
